As a branch of Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), political jurisprudence is responsible for explaining and regulating political relationships within the framework of Islamic teachings. With the occurrence of the Islamic Revolution in Iran and the establishment of the Islamic Republic, the need for the theoretical development of political jurisprudence became more apparent than ever. However, after more than four decades since the Revolution, the development of this field has faced various epistemological challenges that have hindered its efficiency and its ability to adequately respond to new governmental issues. This study, employing an analytical-descriptive approach, examines the epistemological harms impeding the development of political jurisprudence during the era of the Islamic Revolution and identifies the most significant obstacles. The findings indicate that the main challenges include methodological limitations in deriving political rulings, static interpretations of religious texts, lack of effective engagement with modern political and social sciences, and the absence of a comprehensive approach toward the objectives of Sharia. Other key barriers include the separation of religion from politics, lack of belief in the comprehensiveness and permanence of the Qur’an and Islam, and weakness in precisely defining the domain of political jurisprudence. To overcome these harms, it is essential to redefine ijtihad methodologies, enhance interdisciplinary interactions, and adopt a comprehensive and dynamic approach. The research emphasizes that unless epistemological barriers are removed, political jurisprudence will not be capable of addressing the emerging needs of the Islamic government. In conclusion, achieving an efficient political jurisprudence requires a transformation in theoretical foundations and ijtihad methodologies, along with a revision of traditional approaches.
