Developments in the international system in recent decades indicate that the Western model of domination has shifted from the classical forms of colonialism and direct intervention toward complex cognitive, cultural, and media-based mechanisms. In this model, the primary objective is not merely to control territories, but rather to reconstruct the intellectual, value-based, and identity systems of societies—a process referred to as “intellectual and identity transformation.” By employing transnational media, social networks, the entertainment industry, educational systems, emerging technologies, and mechanisms of digital colonialism, this strategy seeks to alter patterns of perception, lifestyles, historical memory, and the cultural identity of nations, particularly independent and Islamic societies. The present study aims to explain the dimensions and instruments of the Western project of intellectual and identity transformation and to analyze the discursive responses of Ayatollah Khamenei (RA), with particular attention to the jurisprudential foundations of rejecting domination and safeguarding the identity of Islamic society. The research adopts a qualitative methodology based on critical discourse analysis. Data were collected and analyzed through documentary research and examination of the statements, messages, and written works of the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution. The findings indicate that, within Ayatollah Khamenei’s intellectual framework, confronting identity transformation is not merely a defensive measure in the cultural sphere; rather, it constitutes part of a broader strategy of civilizational resistance and rejection of domination over Islamic society. This strategy rests on strengthening Islamic-Iranian identity, deepening faith and historical self-awareness, Jihad of Clarification (Jihad-e Tabyeen), scientific and cultural independence, a resistance economy, reproducing the discourse of justice and progress, and contributing to the formation of a New Islamic Civilization. From the perspective of political jurisprudence, these components are connected to the principles and foundations of nafy al-sabil (the prohibition of domination by non-Muslims over the Muslim community), preservation of the integrity and independence of Islamic society, protection of religion, the obligation of clarification and guidance, and the establishment of justice. Consequently, Ayatollah Khamenei’s discourse, by connecting the capacities of Shi'a political jurisprudence with civilizational resistance, offers a comprehensive and forward-looking model for confronting contemporary strategies of domination, reconstructing identity, and enhancing the cultural resilience of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
