Humanity will ascend to the heights of happiness and perfection and experience the blessings of universal justice in this world, and will be liberated from the darkness of ignorance and the oppression of tyrants, when the blessed appearance of the Promised Mahdi (AJ) takes place. However, this certain divine promise will not be fulfilled unless the followers and awaiters of the Imam, by carrying out their duties, prepare the necessary conditions for the advent of this revered Imam. Among contemporary thinkers, one who has demonstrated exceptional insight into global developments and has presented precise and practical views concerning the responsibilities and duties of the awaiters is the martyred leader and Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei. The present study seeks to examine the jurisprudential evidence underlying the duties and responsibilities of the awaiters of the Promised Mahdi (AJ) by employing a descriptive-analytical approach, with the aim of identifying and presenting his views.
Research Findings: An examination of the jurisprudential foundations of the ideas of the Supreme Leader indicates that if the awaiters of the Promised Mahdi (AJ) fulfill their individual duties—such as acquiring knowledge and recognition, developing moral and spiritual preparedness, avoiding attachment to worldly pursuits, seeking spiritual connection with and supplicating to Imam al-Mahdi (AJ), strengthening their belief in his presence and supervision, not fearing enemies, maintaining hope, and remaining in a state of anticipation—as well as their social duties—such as preparing the conditions for his advent, striving to reform society, conducting scholarly research into Mahdism and responding to doubts and misconceptions, and praying for the hastening of the Imam's reappearance—the conditions necessary for the reappearance of the universal reformer, Baqiyyat Allah al-A'zam (AJ), will be provided.
